Hi All
DSM 7.1 has just released, and it brings a number of UI changes to the Synology Docker UI meaning a lot of my guides will require tweaks and screenshot updates. I am going to begin working on these in the background, it’s likely going to take a few weeks.
I am trying to decide if I should keep the 7.0 versions up for a few months and dual run while everyone upgrades. I know I am going to hold out on my main 1821+ on 7.0 for a while, but my 1815+ has been running the Beta/RC for a couple of months.
Head over to Discord if you have upgraded already and need any help.
Thanks
The Dr
Hi, thinking about upgrading my 6.2 system. Unfortunately in the new update of your website, I can’t find the 7.0/7.1 update page.
What best to do from 6.2 to 7.0 update docker and then 7.1, or all the way to 7.1 first and then update docker?
Anything to take into account, or things that could go wrong?
Hey, you will need to update through the updates recommended for you NAS within DSM, then Docker should show as an update being available within package center.
Any containers you have should continue to work as expected.
As always make sure you have a working backup of your /docker share.
thanks! will first indeed check my backup and then start according to the below.
Done, and running in 7.1. all packages confirmed running again (Sabnzbd, Sonarr, Radarr, tautulli, speedtracker, Bazarr, spotweb) only thing that did not come back up is prowlarr…. haven’t been able to pinpoint why yet
Cool I am glad it’s working mostly – try downloading an update for Prowlarr in case it needs an update.
shouldn’t watchtower be doing that? forgot to mention it is running, but that is also the case for prowlarr. but when opening its webpage, I get a timeout
Aah, I now see both are on the develop branch, not the latest branch. is there an easy way to change that, or best to re-do the install?
develop is fine for Prowlarr as it is still not in a ‘latest’ version state.
You may want to delete the container (not the files) and set it up again.
So where do you get Docker for DSM7 ? It isn’t in the approved Synology package list.
Which model NAS do you have?
DS218+
It’s on the Download Center https://global.download.synology.com/download/Package/spk/Docker/20.10.3-1306/Docker-x64-20.10.3-1306.spk?model=DS218%2B&bays=2&dsm_version=7.1&build_number=42661
That’s interesting, it shows up on the website, but not through the package manager!
I can’t create or modify docker containers since the update, also not on *1306. Am I missing something?
I have seen that some people had to manually download the Docker update from the Synology download center.
https://www.synology.com/support/download
1306 is unfortunately the newest https://archive.synology.com/download/Package/Docker
It just works now. Whatever happened I don’t know but now create and edit work fine again..
i’ve upgraded my synology yesterday and i can say that everything is still working, i just had to reinstall my indexers and download client, that’s it
I think many of us will wait a few months before upgrading, just to see if it’s stable and without problems, so keeping the DSM 7.0 guides for a while would be good. You might even consider having a DSM 7.0 and DSM 7.1 section in your guides.
